The Charlotte Herb Guild Newsletter September 2019

The Charlotte Herb Guild
Meeting of September 15, 2019
McGill Rose Garden
400 North Davidson Street

President Susan Poel called the meeting to order at 2:30p.m. She announced that members Carol White, Hilda Norwood, and she had invited guests. Since members came to view Virginia’s Memorial Herb Garden, hostesses Sandie Fenton, Hilda Norwood, Millie Snyder, and Mary Ann Nagel, made Virginia’s recipes from the The Charlotte Herb Guild Cooks Again in her honor.

Ann Baldwin gave a brief update on the November meeting. The Herb Guild will be decorating the Garden Council House for the holidays. She requests that members start thinking of ideas – no plastic- and send them to Ann. Round work tables will be set up for members at the meeting. Refreshments will be provided by Beth, Lynn, and Carol K.

Pat Siegfried asked that all members RSVP to her by October 5 for the Annual Tea Party, which will be held on Saturday, October 12 at the Charlotte Museum of History. From 1-2p.m. there will be a tour of the Museum, and then the tea party will start at 2p.m. Attendees are asked to make some food to complement the teas. Guests are welcome for a $20 fee. The Herb Guild must be out of the Museum by 5 p.m., so Pat is asking for at least eight members to help clean up. Please email Pat with your availability or call her at 704-562-8618.

The group then learned about the changes at McGill Rose Garden from Eric Ritchie, with help from Craig. Craig displayed and discussed some relatively rare herbs that he was introduced to by Virginia. The members had an opportunity to enjoy a stroll through Virginia’s Memorial Herb Garden.

Respectfully submitted,
Susan Oleson
Communications Chair
