The Charlotte Herb Guild
November 9, 2016
The Charlotte Council of Garden Clubs

President Lana Andrews called the meeting to order and thanked hostesses Ann Baldwin, Mary Ann Nagel, and Joan Smith. She also thanked those members who provided food for the district meeting, those who helped with the Council garage/plant/book sale, and those who helped at the annual tea.

She asked members to let her know if they have council house keys.  We need a better system to keep track of keys.  One suggestion is to get a coded key system like realtors use.

Margie Orell introduced guest Faye Janson and noted that Suzanne Williams is a new member.  She reminded people to pay their guest fees.

The Garden Council has pruned one tree in the back parking area and removed another. On Wednesday, November 16th , the Council will host Larry Mellichamp who will talk about ferns.  The meeting begins with refreshments at 9:30.  All are welcome.

There will be a workday for the Hezekiah Alexander garden in early December.
Brenda Dills did a wonderful job replanting the herb garden in front of the Council House.

If you would like to volunteer yourself or another member to serve as an officer or a committee chair, please let Lana know as soon as possible.  The Guild will elect new officers at the January meeting.

Brenda Dills introduced Joy Goforth who led a wreath-making workshop for the group.  With degrees in Agriculture and Horticulture from NC State, Joy works for the NC Department of Agriculture inspecting nurseries in five counties.  She also writes a gardening column and has a weekly Saturday morning radio program on WIXE (93.1 FM and 11.90 AM) in Monroe.

Respectfully submitted,

Margie Orell for Mary Beth Collins
Communications Chair
