The Charlotte Council of Garden Clubs
President Lana Andrews wished everyone a happy new year and
called the meeting to order at 7:45.
She thanked hostesses Sandie Fenton and Dixie Kelly for the delicious
refreshments.
Membership Secretary
Margie Orell introduced our guests: Martha Bash, Cheryl Cast, Gloria Tiller,
and Beth Burgin. Beth rents one of the rooms in the upstairs of the Council
House for her massage business and has expressed an interest in joining the
Guild. Margie distributed
membership forms for next year.
The form and dues must be in
to Margie by the March meeting.
Dixie Kelly gave the
Treasurer’s report and indicated a current balance of $7,730.
Brenda Dills and Carol White
volunteered to host the January 14th meeting. There will be a sign up sheet at the
next meeting to identify hospitality responsibilities for 2017-2018.
Dana DeBellis will be
establishing regular Wednesday or Friday garden days for Virginia’s Garden at
the McGill Rose Garden. Members
are welcome anytime the McGill Garden is open to enjoy, weed, or harvest the
herbs.
Mary Beth asked that anyone having trouble with receiving information about the Guild contact her.
Brenda announced that Sandie
Fenton will be doing a program on cooking with herbs on Tuesday, February 14th.
The Executive Board brought
a proposal to move up the start time of the meetings. After some discussion,
the membership voted to have refreshments begin at 7:00 rather than 7:15.
The Board proposed the
following slate of officers for 2017-2018. Terms begin on March 1, 2017.
President: Mary Beth Collins
Vice President: Susan Poel
Treasurer: Dixie Kelly
Program: Lana Andrews and Phyllis Cutrell
Communications: Susan Oleson
Membership: Margery Orell
There were no further
nominations from the floor, and the members approved the slate.

chairs who have volunteered for next year:
