The Charlotte Herb Guild
Meeting of February 12, 2019
Garden Council House
1820 East Seventh Street

President Mary Beth Collins called the meeting to order at 6:30 pm. The group enjoyed a wonderful array of food provided by the members for the annual pot luck dinner. Mary Beth thanked Patti Harlan, Dana DeBellis, and those who came early to set up tables for their efforts in making the dinner such a success. She reminded all members to send their recipes to Susan.

Mary Beth asked for approval of the January meeting minutes. Stephanie Holden made a motion, and they were duly approved.

Margie Orell reminded attendees that dues must be paid before the March meeting. The form and a check for $30 may be mailed to Margie or given to her at the February meeting. Margie’s address is 1133 Berkeley Avenue, Charlotte, NC 28203.

Dixie Kelly presented the Treasurer’s report. The guild has a current balance of $5708.

Program co-chairs gave updates on the coming year and all programs have been confirmed. The March meeting will try a new approach to fundraising with a Silent Auction. Members are asked to bring anything related to herbs or gardening to the next meeting.

Mary Beth took a vote on changing the starting time of future meetings. After a discussion and vote it was decided that members want to begin meetings at 6:00 p.m.

Holly Jeffries and Julie Courtney gave a brief update on the Farmers Market. It will be on the Saturday before Mothers’ Day, May 11. They asked for people to consider items that might sell well with a range of price points. Lana showed some seed bombs she made from papier-mâché. Holly asked if anyone knew of certified kitchens we might use. She will investigate the YWCA on Park Road and Caldwell Presbyterian Church.

Margie gave the Herb of the Month presentation on Spanish lavender.

Stephanie Holden is assigning people to hostess; it is a responsibility for each member.

The next meeting will be March 12 with a presentation on “The Many Uses of Lavender” by Lavender Fields from Gastonia as well as our first Silent Auction. Guests are welcome for a $5.00 fee.

Respectfully submitted,
Susan Oleson

Communications Chair
